POLL: Hillary Most Popular Politician In NYS

Some new numbers- and some old conventional wisdom are in lockstep this morning:  Democrats would love to see Hillary Clinton run for President, and a majority of New Yorkers agree.

A Siena College poll of 822 registered voters show she is the state's most popular politican, and one that a majority of voters want to see run for President in 2016.

Is Hillary Clinton the Democratic front runner in 2016?
Yes

No

"It's hers to turn down," says Bruce Bryski of Buffalo State College. "I can't think of anybody who's in a better position to be the Democratic front runner."

Clinton‟s 75-23 percent favorability rating is her highest rating ever in a Siena poll. By a 54-39 percent margin, voters say they would like Clinton to run for President in 2016.

Continuing both Clintons status as Democratic Party 'rock stars' Hillary Clinton enjoys huge popularity among voters in her adopted home state.

"She is viewed favorably by an overwhelming 90 percent of Democrats, 70 percent of independents and even 50 percent of Republicans,” Siena pollster Steve Greenberg said.

“And although the Iowa caucuses are more than three years away, a majority of New Yorkers, including more than two-thirds of Democrats, want to see their former Senator take the plunge and run. "

"The same is not true of Governor Cuomo, with only 39 percent of voters saying he should run in 2016, while 49 percent say he should not.”

Bryski points to two key strengths.
"She has already run for president, and she did a good job in that campaign. Her foreign policy experience as secretary of state can do nothing but help that," notes Bryski.

He says we'll know for sure if Clinton will run a year from now, because campaigns are now two year journeys.

If she says no thanks, Bryski says that will be because of burnout.

"She may just be too tired, she may have had enough with politics. You can tell just by looking at her the toll this current position has had on her," explains Bryski.

This story? Now?
We just got through a looong Presidential campaign season and election. The next one is FOUR years away. Why am I seeing stories about WHO might be running or the frontrunner, etc, etc at this point? Things can change dramatically within 6 months of an election, so WHY talk about this now? Seriously, give it a rest! Lead, don't follow.

Who would she run against?
By 2016 the GOP will have self-destructed, a victim of its own avarice, bigotry, ignorance and incompetence.

avarice, bigotry, ignorance and incompetence?
Isn't that the GOP platform?
