BUFFALO, NY (WBEN) - Buffalo Police now say that the driver who crashed into light poles Thursday, killing a pedestrian, died of a gun shot wound. 48-year-old Issak Parker was pulled over for a routine traffic stop, according to Buffalo police, when he sped away. Police say they did *not* give chase. One of the light poles Parker knocked over landed on 54-year-old Ida Murphy of Buffalo, killing her.
Police have not yet confirmed that Parker's fatal wound was from a police bullet. As is the case when an officer discharges a weapon, homicide detectives and the internal affairs division of the Buffalo police department both conduct investigations.
