Buffalo,NY (WBEN) A favorite holiday tradition is back this year. "Santaland" at Chestnut Ridge Park in Orchard Park The popular program is continuing thanks to a new partnership between Erie County and the Orchard Park Recreation Department.
Orchard Park Recreation Director Ed Leak tells WBEN he was approached by Erie County legislator John Mills four years ago, asking if they could take-over the county's annual Winterfest celebration. Leak says it was so successful
the Rec Department was approached again to assist with the Santaland event.
Leak was joined by Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, Parks Commissioner Troy Schinzel, and the Jolly Old Elf himself at Chestnut Ridge Park to announce the return of Santaland this weekend, December 15-16, 2012 from 11am-4pm each day.
Santaland offers new family activities this year including a haymaze, wood cutting and marshmallow roasts both days. Family favorites from earlier years return as well, including hay rides to see Santa, face painting and arts & crafts.
