No Toll Hike, No Movement on Moving Toll Barrier

Williamsville, NY (WBEN) As news came of the Thruway Authority's decision to not hike tolls for trucks, there is still concern over the Williamsville Toll Barrier. Some say there's a need to move it but that hasn't happened yet.

Amherst Town Board Member Jay Anderson says he'll be in touch with local members of the state legislative delegation to reach progress on moving the barrier.eastward. "We've learned there is federal money, anywhere from $14 to $30 million to move the barrier," says Anderson, who says it's up to half the amount needed.

Anderson would not say where the barrier should be moved, but suggests a farming community. "Unfortunately, those communities do have less of a footprint. There would be less congestion, less pollution by moving the barrier there," explains Anderson.
