"We've been preparing for the past few days, going on 12 hour shifts, getting the equipment ready," says Stepniak.
Stepniak says crews will start on the main and secondary roads during the evening hours, and residential side streets during the overnight hours.
Thanks in part to last year's mild winter, salt is plentiful according to Stepniak. "As the winter progresses, that can change. We could be using a lot of salt by the end of this winter," he notes.
Stepniak reminds everyone to follow side parking rules. "It just takes one vehicle parked on the wrong side of the street on some of these narrow streets and plows can't get down there," warns Stepniak.
