Buffalo Business Report - Thursday, December 27th 2012

Ciminelli Real Estate Corporation has asked the Erie County Industrial Development Agency for an abatement package to help finance the construction of Kaleida Health's Conventus Building on Main Street.  Business First reports the anchor project for the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus will be the subject of a public hearing January 3rd, beginning the approvals process.  The next step is to gain approval from the Buffalo Planning Board.

Also seeking incentives and abatements from the ECIDA is Harper International.  The company had sought to move to Lancaster, but will instead expand its local operations at the former Quebecor plant on George Urban Boulevard in Depew.

A report by On Numbers, an on-line service of Business First, reports that from 1940 to the current day, gasoline prices have soared 1,705% - from eighteen cents to the national average of about $3.25.  Inflation over the same period has risen 1,544%.  Going deeper into the statistics, if prices had risen according to the Consumer Price Index, a gallon of gas would cost  $2.96 per gallon today.
