Digging Out in Orchard Park

Digging Out

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Many western New Yorkers spent their Thursday morning digging out from the widespread snowstorm that left ten to twelve inches of snow across the region. The general snowfall fell late Wednesday and ended before daybreak Thursday, sparing motorists from what could have been a nightmarish morning commute.

The roar of plows could be heard on the highways, while in neighborhoods the scraping of shovels and icescrapers, along with the hum of snowblowers were the morning alarm clock.

Area ski resorts are singing praise with the much needed natural snowfall that will bolster their man-made efforts.  Kissing bridge President Mark Halter tells WBEN when there is a general snow across the metro region, skiiers are more likely to trek to the resorts and enjoy the slopes.

Only flurries are expected today along with cold temperatures.
