Headed into the final weekend of the calendar year, the AAA reports the cost of a gallon of unleaded gas in WNY is $3.71. That's forty-three cents more than the national average of $3.28.
The Buffalo Sabres and Kaleida Health are partnering on a Buffalo Sabres Newborn Program beginning January 1st at Millard Fillmore Suburban and Women & Children's Hospitals. All babies born this coming year at those facilities will receive a Sabres baby blanket and a certificate from the team's owner Terry Pegula.
The Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority has awarded a $430,000 contract to Niagara Falls-based Metro Contracting & Environmental Incorporated for demolition of the former Woodson Gardens apartments. Business First says the complex will be razed. Future plans for the site have yet to be determined.
UB has jumped five places to 33rd overall in a ranking of colleges based on affordability. Kiplinger's Personal Finance listed UB only 70th in the 2010 survey.
