Bills Win But Gailey On The Hotseat

Orchard Park, NY (WBEN) The Buffalo Bills disappointing 2012 campaign finally came to a close Sunday at Ralph Wilson Stadium with a 28-9 win over the equally hapless New York Jets. While the win improved the team to 6-10 on the year, it is being widely speculated that head coach, Chan Gailey will be dismissed after another losing season.

The Jets opened the scoring with a 47 yard field goal from Nick Folk but the Bills struck back with a 20 yard interception return by Bryan Scott to make the score 7-3. That was the first of three interceptions thrown on the day by Jets’ quarterback, Mark Sanchez.

New York had a pair of field goal attempts blocked by Buffalo one in each half of play, but they did manage kicks of 23 and 28 yards to give Gang Green a short-lived 9-7 lead.

C.J. Spiller continued his electric play by taking a short screen pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick 66 yards to put the Bills back in the driver’s seat 14-9. Brad Smith was called on in the fourth quarter to run the ‘Wildcat’. Smith went in from four yards out to cap an 80 yard drive. Tashard Choice closed out the scoring with a 13 yard touchdown run with 1:10 left on the clock.

When it comes to the numbers; Fitzpatrick finished the day with 225 yards passing, Spiller had the long score and a total of 131 combined yards and Stevie Johnson had six catches for 111 yards which put him over 1,000 yards receiving for a third straight year.

Local and national media outlets are speculating that Gailey could be released following a third year with a losing record and no playoff appearances.
