First Night Buffalo set for New Year's Eve

Buffalo (WBEN) -- The 24th annual First Night Buffalo celebration is set for Monday evening from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.  at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.

The Independent Health Foundation, which is organizing the event, describes it as a family-friendly event with rides and amusements, including juggler and comedian Nels Ross, to help families bid farewell to 2012 and set the stage to welcome in 2013.

Besides Nels Ross, others are also set to perform, said Carrie Meyer, executive director of the Independent Health Foundation.

"Comedian and stuntman Wacky Chad, Terry Buchwald's tribute to Elvis, Bubblemania, the Red Trouser Show, magician Wade Live, lasertag, a toddler area, music, and a grand finale balloon drop," Meyer said.

Tickets are on sale for $8 at area Wegmans locations, and they'll be $10 dollars at the door.

Free parking for attendees will also be available at the Fernbach and Main Place Mall parking ramps.
