Cuomo Disappointed by House Inaction on Sandy Aid

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo says he's disappointed that Congress failed to vote as expected on an aid package for damage from Superstorm Sandy, but he expects a vote soon.

Cuomo says Wednesday, hours after the House of Representatives failed to act on the package, that the House inaction is "inexcusable."

The U.S. Senate approved a $60.4 billion measure Friday. The Republican-controlled House Appropriations Committee has drafted $27 billion measure for recovery from the late October storm that damaged or destroyed 305,000 housing units and more than 265,000 businesses in New York.

Rep. Peter King, a Long Island Republican, says the state can't afford the government costs from the storm without federal aid.

King called the failure to vote in the House a "knife in the back" to New Yorkers.

Buck up, Republicans
King is just grandstanding to his constituents. Don't forget that he voted against aid to Katrina victims. He's still enough of a hypocrite and misanthrope to maintain his solid standing in the GOP.

Thank you Governor Christie
For saying what needed to be said. Republicans have basically become enemies of the USA.
