Newfane Schools in Lockdown Following Bank Robbery

Newfane, NY (WBEN) Niagara County Sheriff's deputies have placed schools near the Bank of America branch on Main Street to be on lockdown.

Deputies say a light skinned black male in his early 30s, wearing a black leather jacket, black beanie style hat, and glasses with tape over his eye and nose held up the bank just after 12:30 this afternoon.

Deputies say the lockdown of Newfane schools is strictly a precaution because of the proximity of the bank.
