Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Later today, we expect to hear from Vice President Joe Biden on his recommendations for reducing gun violence and increasing gun control. A Buffalo Common Councilmember has some expectations.

"I have an expectation that what the Vice President will put forth will not only be a report that deals with safety but the statistical data they have drawn their conclusions from," says Rev. Darius Pridgen. "Many of us in the city, especially those concerned about violence, hope he and the President will eventually address the huge magazines available for automatic and semiautomatic weapons, as well as some of the weapons on the market."

Pridgen also hopes Biden will push to protect the rights of licensed, responsible gun owners. "There is a slippery slope in doing this, but I hope we make sure the rights of law abiding citizens are not taken away because of the actions of one foolish person," notes Pridgen.

Pridgen says violence like this does happen in his district, just not frequently. "We do see it. Most of our crimes are from handguns, but that does not mean other guns don't need the attention before they become a problem," explains Pridgen.

Pridgen says we need to move forward from Connecticut, but not move too fast to not protect gun owners' rights.
