For Wyoming, Livingston, Ontario, Chautauqua,Cattaraugus, Allegany and Southern Erie Counties,
including Warsaw, Geneseo, Canandaigua, Jamestown, Olean, Wellsville, Orchard Park and Springvoille
A winter weather advisory in effect until 3 pm est this afternoon.
The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a winter weather advisory for snow which is in effect until 3 pm est this afternoon.
Locations: The western southern tier and portions of the Finger Lakes region.
Timing: Through late this afternoon.
Hazards: Light snow and areas of freezing drizzle.
Accumulations: an inch or less today.
Temperatures: Falling to the lower 20s by late afternoon.
Impacts: Areas of light snow and freezing drizzle could produce an icy glaze on untreated surfaces. This could produce dangerously slick conditions for motorists in the region. Motorists should allow extra time to reach their destination.
Precautionary/preparedness actions: A winter weather advisory is normally issued for a variety of winter weather conditions such as light snow, blowing snow, sleet, freezing rain and wind chills. While the weather will be significant, the word advisory implies that severe winter weather is not anticipated.
