Child Hurt in Fall From Chair Lift at NY Ski Area

FRENCH CREEK, N.Y. (AP) - The operators of a ski area in western New York say a 7-year-old Ohio boy is back home after suffering a head injury when he fell from a chair lift.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office says a local emergency crew was dispatched Thursday night after a child fell from a lift at the Peak N' Peek Resort and Spa in the town of French Creek, on the Pennsylvania border in New York's southwestern corner.

Deputies say the child was taken by ambulance to Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa.

A ski area executive confirms Friday that a snowboarder from Chardon, Ohio, fell 8 to 10 feet from a chair lift on the beginner's slope. The executive says the boy was treated for a possible mild concussion and sent home with his parents.
