Buffalo, NY (WBEN) As President Obama prepares to take his second oath of office in the nation's highest office, one local economist gives us his thoughts on what we can expect over the next four years.

"By no means has President Obama been a liberal on most issues, in fact he's been a liberal. I think that will continue," says Fred Floss, a professor at Buffalo State College. But Floss warns the economy may suffer from sudden moves. "We can't jump too quickly into doing things that will slow the economy down, like cutting social security, raising taxes dramatically. Things like that will slow the economy down for the next few years and that could be disastrous because we're not out of the woods yet," notes Floss.

Floss says one question is what the other countries will do and what will happen in the rest of the world.

Floss predicts the Obama administartion will focus on infrastructure. "Better roads, airplanes, technology, and I expect more capital expenditures. It could be the thing moving forward to help us get out of the recession we've been in," says Floss. He says such recessions take ten years for the economy to fully recover and that may not happen until the end of Obama's second term.
