The Urban Land Institute will begin looking into the future re-use of One HSBC Center next month.  Business First reports a panel will take several days to review options, beginning February 25th.  One HSBC accounts for nearly 24% of downtown Buffalo's office space.  HSBC, the Phillips Lytle LLP law firm and the Canadian Consulate have left or are leaving; those three accounted for 90% of the towers leaseable office space.

The Wall Street Journal reports Barnes & Noble intends to close at least 20 stores a year over the next ten years.  Holiday revenue was off 11%, but the book retailer still made $317 million in earnings for 2012.  It's unknown what impact the closures would have in this region.

Sevenson Environmental Services of Niagara Falls recently completed a lead remediation project in Hamden, Connecticut.
