Vanek climbed to first place in the NHL scoring race by posting a League-best 10 points (five goals, five assists) in four games last week. Vanek recorded points on 71% of the Sabres' goals, starting with one assist in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs last Tuesday. He notched his second five-point game of the season (three goals, two assists) in a 7-4 victory over Boston Thursday, becoming the first Sabres player in 20 years to record multiple five-point games in a season. Pat LaFontaine and Alexander Mogilny had six and three, respectively, in 1992-93. Vanek tallied Buffalo's only goal in a 6-1 loss to Montreal Saturday and tallied a goal and two assists in a 4-3 loss to Florida Sunday.
