Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Last year, CNN's Anderson Cooper caused quite a dustup with his giggling fit over Buffalo's Dyngus Day party on his "Anderson Cooper 360" program. After a conversation, Cooper told organizers he'd mark it on his calendar to be in Buffalo this year. There's now word Cooper may back out.
"According to his publicist, Anderson Cooper now has a scheduling conflict with '60 Minutes' and he's too busy to come to our neck of the woods," says Eddy Dobosiewicz. "We tried taking the high road, but we cannot add insult to injury, so Mr. Cooper, we're mad as hell and we're not going to take it any more."
Dobosiewicz has started an online and social media campaign to get Cooper to keep his word and come to Buffalo April 1st. "We're gonna deluge CNN with tweets, Facebook messages, and petitions," notes Dobosiewicz, who has launched a website, www.partypoopercooper.com to collect signatures online. He'll also be at the Broadway Market Saturday to collect signatures to convince Cooper to change his mind.
There's incentive for Cooper to be here on Dyngus Day. "Should Anderson Cooper come to his senses, we'll still welcome him to our great city to celebrate our Polish pride, and present him with the Pussy Willow Prince Crown," notes Dobosiewicz.
Dobosiewicz says he was at first taken aback by the giggling fit heard 'round the world "because it came out of left field, and the surprise factor was there. Then it seemed like he was offending Poles and Polish Americans, and the city of Buffalo has been celebrating Dyngus Day for decades. It's something we take pride in and it's uniquely Western New Yorkish."
So so - embarassing. This man is making our city look like a joke. Begging Anderson Cooper to come here, please find a hobby.

Really.....???
Anderson is a joke. I guess it's OK to laugh at Polish Americans. In Buffalo, we ALL have the oppertunity to celebrate St Pat's day, Dyngus day, etc... We don't need him here to celebrate our MANY ethnic traditions. Anderson, stay home!

Forget Anderson Cooper
We should get that Bill Geist guy from CBS Sunday Morning to come. He'd have a great time, do a great segment, and probably take some shots at Cooper while he was at it.
Besides, does ANYBODY care what Anderson Cooper thinks?
