Lackawanna, NY (WBEN) Wednesday was a day in court for those fighting the demolition of the Bethlehem Steel administration buidling. There is hope the two sides can come together and talk about keeping the buidling intact.
The judge has reserved a ruling, according to Dana Saylor with I'm Steel Standing, the group fighting demolition. "We're excited to hear from him. We believe our representation presented a good argument," says Saylor.
She says her group has formed a team of real estate professionals and preservationists willing to work on making the building preservation ready. "We put that team together because we found out the RESTORE NY money is still in play," says Saylor.
Saylor adds that is leading to optimism about bringing the two sides together. "Gateway's attorneys said they'd talk with their client, and hopefully we'll be working together," adds Saylor.
The chemical lab was recently torn down, but the group has been fighting since an engineer's report, withheld from the court, showed the building was structurally sound.
