(WBEN) Government forecasters say much of the United States can expect a warm spring and persistent drought- but in unveiling the long term, broad climate outlook-- officials asked the question that is on everyone's lips lately:
"Many folks are asking , 'Where is Spring.", joked National Weather Service Deputy Director Laura Furgione, as she outlined the Service's predictions for April, May and June.
"It is coming," she added

Above-normal temperatures are predicted across most of the Lower 48 states and northern Alaska- including Western New York.
"The majority of the continental U.S. we are expecting above normal temperatures for the next three months. In regards to precipation, the odds favor wetter than normal conditions in the Great Lakes ," Furgione says .
The forecast also calls for little relief for the drought-stricken Midwest and Southwest. Currently, half the country is experiencing moderate to exceptional drought.
Late snowmelt could bring river flooding along the upper Mississippi. N.Dakota is at risk of flooding from the Red River.
A cooler spring is predicted for the Pacific Northwest and northern Great Plains. Drier-than-normal conditions are on tap for the West and Gulf Coast. Hawaii is expected to be cooler and drier .
