"We've done some preliminary stuff on the course, and we hope Mother Nature shines this week so we can take care of the things we need to do out there," says Parks Commissioner Troy Schinzel. "There are still some things from winter we have to take care of, as well as put out the flags and the tees."
Schinzel says Grover Cleveland Golf Course ran into trouble because of the heavy rains. "Grover is underwater, there's a lot of water on it, as do most courses in Erie County, and we'll wait and see how much more rain we get and how much of the water will leave," explains Schinzel. He adds things are fine at Elma Meadows.
Schinzel says even if the courses aren't ready for Tiger wannabes, staff will be there selling passes when the courses open Friday.
