Dishing Up Good Food For A Good Cause

A tip of the toque to a number of local restaurants—from casual to swanky-- that have recently served up not only excellent cuisine but also dished up proceeds to help a number of area charities.

At Kaydara Noodle Bar, the only open noodle bar kitchen in Buffalo, every $25 gift certificate purchased from Friday, April 12 through Friday, April 26, the restaurant will donate 20% to Hospice Buffalo.

"Hospice touches the lives of many people throughout our area,” said Kaydara owner Jennifer Laban.

“The people of Hospice came into our lives in February of 2008 during the time of my grandmother’s illness.  They helped all of us through a very difficult time with kindness and sympathy.  It is a goal of mine to give back to Hospice as they gave so much to my family and friends.  I know many employees and co-workers who have also been touched by Hospice and their good work,” added Jennifer. “I'm hoping to make a generous donation!”

Opened in August last year, Kaydara Noodle Bar is fast becoming one of my favorite dining spots. I love the open kitchen, the industrial chic surroundings, the downtown vibe and, of course, the creative cuisine. It’s nice to see the owner on-site; Jennifer does everything from serve to run the place!

“Everything we make from scratch is fresh, not frozen; we have vegan and gluten-free options. Our house made beverages - ginger ale, tamarind soda, various juices, and lemonades – are unique and delicious,” Jennifer said.
Other eateries have contributed as well. Earlier this month, Salvatore’s Italian Gardens raised money for the new polar bear exhibit at the Buffalo Zoo. A number of places contributed to Dining Out for Life, now in its 11th year of helping Evergreen Health Services.
