Police in the Town of Ellicott say this investigation began with the theft of a shotgun from a residence.
"During the course of that investigation, we had recovered the stolen shotgun from a local business, and after we recovered the stolen shotgun, the owner of the business gave us the name as who he bought the shotgun from. We tracked that indvidual down and he had sold the shotgun from our defendant, Willam Giambelluca, which violated the NYSAFE law," says Ellicott Police Detective Brad Knight.
Knight says Giambelluca was already behind bars for stealing firearms earlier.
Back in March 32 year old Benjamin Wassell was charged with selling military-style weapons on at least two occasions to undercover officers in violation of the SAFE Act.
