Buffalo, NY (WBEN) It appears the battle to stop the downtown casino is coming to an end. A judge has dismissed a third lawsuit filed by Citizens Against Casino Gambling in Erie County.
Judge William Skretny ruled against the group who claimed the Senecas did not have jurisdiction over the land and even if they did, the land could not be used for gambling under a federal ban.
"We are extremely pleased with the decision rendered by Chief Judge William Skretny," says Seneca Nation President Barry Snyder. "Many years have been spent debating these issues. We are one step closer to putting this behind us. The leaders of New York State have recognized that gaming is an important element of the region's economic recovery.
