Buffalo Business Report - Wednesday, June 5th 2013

Canada's 24 Target stores raked in $86 million in the first quarter.  Some of those stores have only been open for a month or two.  Toronto's Globe & Mail reports Target stores in Buffalo, Detroit and Seattle have seen a negative sales impact as a direct result.  There are other oddities: Canadian consumers still purchase Jif peanut butter and Cheez-It crackers at U.S. Targets.  Those items aren't available north of the border.

Verizon is closing in on a 4-year, $1 billion extension of its NFL rights.  The deal would allow streaming of all games to mobile phones, which will likely lead to a hue and cry from tablet owners.

The Buffalo Planning Board has agreed to allow Catholic Health to add an extra level to its parking ramp.  That ramp is attached to its new headquarters building on Genesee Street.

Denton, Cottier & Daniels has received a designation as one of the top 100 music instrument and product retailers in the world by the National Association of Music Merchants.
