The summer concert season is officially underway in Buffalo, with two big events taking place this week.
First, the Outer Harbor Concert Series kicked off their schedule by bringing Guns N' Roses to the waterfront.
This is the second year of concerts at the outer harbor. Donny Kutzbach of After Dark Entertainment says that changes have been made to improve the experience for concert-goers.
"We cut down a lot of land that has been overgrowing for the last 10 years or so" said Kutzbach. "We made some improvements to the parking situation, and got with the NFTA and the State on traffic patterns so we could get more people in faster and easier."
The show on Wednesday brought people from across Western New York to the waterfront. "It's an easy drive," said Lee Bruder of Rochester, who made the trip in to Buffalo to see the show. "Right up the Thruway, two turns and you're here; we would come back if there was somebody to see."
Wednesday's show came the night before the start of the popular Thursday at Canalside (formerly Thursday at the Square) series. Kutzbach said the two events work together and don't view themselves as competitors.
"We were involved in booking that series," said Kutzbach. "We work really hard on both of those series, and I think they compliment each other really well."
The next concert in the Outer Harbor Series is Alice Cooper on June 14th. The Thursday at Canalside series begins this week with The Hold Steady.
