Clarence, NY (WBEN / SP release) -- A local physical fitness trainer is accused of slipping a date rape drug to a young intern.
Donald A. Alessi Jr., 44, of Orchard Park, has been charged with two felonies: Assault in the Second Degree, and Facilitating a Sex Offense with a Controlled Substance. State Police say he gave the date rape drug GhB to a college intern at Alessi Fitness - Kids on Transit Road in East Amherst. The center is aimed at kids 6 to 14.
The alleged incident took place more than one year ago, and the arrest follows a long investigation by State Police.
The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Clarence is trying to determine if there were any other similar incidents involving Alessi. They are asking anyone with information to contact them at 716 / 759-6831.

After a lengthy investigation, the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Clarence arrested DONALD A. ALESSI JR, age 44 of Orchard Park NY. ALESSI was charged with two felonies of Assault 2nd and Facilitating a Sex Offense with a Controlled Substance. ALESSI is accused of giving GHB (Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate) to a college intern working for him at Alessi Fitness - Kids in Williamsville, NY in April 2012. GHB is commonly used illegally as an intoxicant or as a date rape drug.
ALESSI was arraigned on an Arrest Warrant in Clarence Town Court after turning himself in with his attorney. ALESSI was released on his own recognizance and processed at SP Clarence.
