Mark Weber has launched the Pianos in Public-Buffalo project with a fundraising effort to place pianos on Buffalo streets.
Cori Wolf of the Buffalo Arts studio is part of an effort to match funds from the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corp., and provide rentable easels at Canalside, where people could gather to paint .
Already this year they have hosted painting classes and art events on the Buffalo waterfront to try and raise $1,500 for sculptor and artist Larry Griffis to custom fabricate easels for rent. They have set up a fundraising campaign on indiegogo.com here
Meanwhile Weber, a local music promoter has held a successful drive on kickstarter.com, raising $4,353 of a 4,000 goal to place pianos at Canalside and on public streets across Buffalo. His plan, modeled after a similar one in New York City, would expand beyond Canalside and place pianos at various outdoor locations across downtown.
Mark has already acquired a number of pianos, and the money raised will go mostly towards moving around them to different locations across the city .
