Town of Tonawanda, NY (WBEN) -- The threatened strike at Dunlop has been averted, thanks to a tentative labor deal.
The United Steelworkers Local 135 posted a note on their website indicating only that a deal had been reached. The negotiations had been going on at the national level with Goodyear, the parent firm of Dunlop Tires.
The labor agreement affects some 8,000 workers at six U.S. plants: Tonawanda; Gadsden, Alabama; Akron, Ohio; Danville, Virginia.; Fayetteville, North Carolina; and Topeka, Kansas.
