Not only do the walls of the Genesee Brewery in Rochester conceal the making of America's favorite adult beverage, but for many years it has also shut its doors to the many people who would love to take a peek inside.
"We really didn't welcome people in," said Mark Minunni, the Director of Engineering at North American Breweries. "It's not easy to take people in to the brewery. The way we combated that last year was opening the Genesee Brew House." The Brew House sits next door to the brewery, and allows customers to get a taste of the beer making experience in a microbrewery.
"One of the main reasons for opening this place was to make a connection with our customers. Now they have a place to come and see what we make, see what we do, and taste our products."
Although the Genesee Brewery does not give tours, Minunni led WBEN on an exclusive tour of the brewery, where we saw the entire operation, and the wide variety of products that are made in Western New York.
