The national average fuel cost has dropped fourteen cents in the past two weeks. That's not quite the story in Western New York, although the AAA does say the current $3.72 per gallon price for unleaded is nine cents lower that it was two weeks ago.
BlueCross BlueShield of WNY has gained a new contract. Business First reports the health insurance carrier now has UB's student medical insurance plan. The contract is for the 2013-14 academic year and is expected to add 4,000 new members.
In Fort Erie, construction has begun on the $400 million Canadian Motor Speedway. Driver Jeff Gordon has acted as a consultant on the project, which is being financed by off-shore interests. The track is expected to be completed for racing in 2016.
