Mayville, NY (WBEN) The wife of a murder suspect took the stand Thursday in her husband's murder trial. Anthony Taglianetti is accused of driving up from Virginia and shooting Clymer Schools Superintendent Keith Reed.
Mary Taglianetti testified there were e-mails going back and forth between her and Reed and she warned him something could happen to him. Authorities have said that Taglianetti believed Reed was having an affair with his wife. "This is all trying to establish a motivation for Mr. Taglianetti to have come up and done this," says attorney Barry Covert, who's following the case.
Covert says there could be some holes poked in the prosecution's case at this point. "The medical examiner indicated the fatal wound came from a small caliber pistol, but the testimony is that Mr. Taglianetti was picked up by law enforcement a few days later in a park, found with a .357 magnum with the blood of Mr. Reed on it, so a lot more information needs to come out," explains Covert.
Covert says we don't know what the defense will be as of yet. Testimony resumes Friday.
