Common Core Forum Coming to Buffalo
Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Parents and lawmakers concerned about Common Core will have their chance to speak up in Buffalo. State Senator Tim Kennedy says he's received confirmation from Regent Bob Bennett a forum will be held in the Queen City.
“Buffalo parents deserve the chance to be heard when it comes to the future of our schools, and I’m pleased the State Education Department will finally be releasing details about a community forum in the Buffalo-area,” Kennedy said. “Many parents work late into the evening and require advance notice to make sure they will be available to attend, so it is my sincere hope that NYSED will announce their final plans as quickly as possible and give families enough time to plan out their busy schedules.
“We made it clear that Buffalo, as the second largest city in the state and home to thousands of children and far too many struggling schools, should not be excluded from these critically important conversations,” Kennedy added, “and we have finally received a firm commitment that a community forum will be held in Buffalo.”
The exact date has not been announced, but Kennedy says he's learned it will be in the next 10-14 days.
