OP Schools, Police Look at Threatening Message in Middle School
Orchard Park, NY (WBEN) Orchard Park Police and School District are investigating a threat seen on a piece of paper at Orchard Park Middle School.
Superintendent Matthew McGarrity issued this statement:
As a district, we are committed to the safety and education of all our students, which includes promptly communicating with parents about any safety concerns that may arise.
Consistent with our approach to such matters, I want to report that earlier today (Friday, December 6th)), at the Orchard Park Middle School, a student document was found that could be construed as threatening.
Following our protocol, the District immediately investigated the matter, which included a referral to the Orchard Park Police.
Based on the information obtained thus far, there is no indication of any intent to actually follow through with a threatening act. Nonetheless, an unfortunate reality of our times is that any apparent or perceived threat must be taken seriously, and must be immediately responded to.
We will further communicate with you if there is any change in circumstances or any additional information that would be useful to you.
Thank you for your consideration and continued cooperation in this matter.
