Buffalo Officer Hospitalized After Crash

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - A Buffalo Police Officer has been hospitalized after his patrol car was struck by another vehicle.

At 8:30 this morning,  a Buffalo Police Officer was responding to a 911 call on Bailey Ave., approaching the intersection of LaSalle Avenue

Buffalo police accident investigators say that's when a Mercedes Benz, making a left turn from LaSalle to Bailey, failed to yield the right of way and struck the police car.

The male officer was transported to ECMC by Rural Metro ambulance where he is being treated for what appear to be non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 52 year old Buffalo man,  did not suffer any injuries.

Accident Investigator Martin Forero says charges against the driver are pending at the completion of investigation.
