Amherst, NY (WBEN) - Two credit card thieves have turned themselves in to police after seeing their faces on security-camera footage.
On Wednesday, State Police arrested David C. Woods, 24, and Tierra Willis, 20, both of Buffalo, NY, and charged them with felony and misdemeanor crimes involving the use of a stolen credit card at the Sheridan Drive Walmart in Amherst.
On November 24, 2013 at approximately 6:30 a.m., the two suspects purchased more than $600 worth of merchandise using the stolen card.
State Police troopers and investigators got the surveillance photos out to the public, in an effort to identify the suspects.
Pictures of the suspects were also posted on the New York State Police Facebook page which generated solid leads for police.
Woods and Willis told State Police when they saw themselves on television, they decided to turn themselves in.
They each face an additional misdemeanor charge for initially lying to police in written statements.
Both were charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree, a class E felony; Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 5th Degree, a class A misdemeanor, and False Written Statement, a class A misdemeanor.
They were processed at SP Buffalo and issued appearance tickets directing them to appear in the Town of Amherst Court on Tuesday December 17, at 9:00 am.
