Orchard Park, NY (WBEN) While the Bills have played their final down of 2013 at Ralph Wilson Stadium, it won't be empty this winter and spring. Crews will be hard at work to get improvements for the stadium ready for next fall.
"There's already been some work done and there are some new buildings going up," says Erie County Public Works Commissioner John Loffredo. "The foundations and structure of those buildings and utility work has been done."
Loffredo says there will be a locker room upgrade and training facility expansion for players. The press box will be moved to a tower club, and the old location will become a pair of suites at the 50 yard line.
If you sat in the same section as the video board, you'll no longer have to crane your neck to see a replay. "They're relocating the existing video wall, splitting it in two, and there will also be a message board on the east end. You'll be able to look at the video board at either end," explains Loffredo. Thats not the only big thing fans will see. "There'll be a new plaza near Abbott Road, that will stand out."
Loffredo says lighting will be upgraded, as well as refurbished post game interview rooms, upgraded restrooms, and various safety improvements.
In total, $130 million in improvments need to be done in six months.
