Clarence, NY (WBEN) The northern part of Clarence remains under a travel advisory as flood waters finally recede. Disaster coordinators are warning you if you have no business there, don't go around road closed signs.
The highway department says it's making progress in clearing ice and water from roads, but that's being hampered by those who bypass road closed signs and their cars become disabled.
"We are making good progress with the High lifts and more roads should open as the day progresses. We are still have high water in some locations and will have to let the water come down and then de-ice after that before the roads can be opened up to traffic. We have a general snow to deal with here, so we will be very busy," says Highway Superintendent James Dussing. "We ask traffic in the North end be limited to people that live, work or have a delivery to make. The Erie County Sheriff's department will ticket people if they drive around barricades and don't have business doing so."
