Buffalo, NY (WBEN) A Niagara Falls man who prosecutors say refused to pull over for police before leading them on a chase in downtown Buffalo has been arraigned.
Prosecutors say 22 year old Asad Hixon refused to stop for police after they caught him driving without a seat belt. Hixon then drove at high speeds, prosecutors say he went the wrong way around the traffic circle in Niagara Square, sped past the convention center and ran a red light at Delaware and Edward November 3rd.
His car hit two other vehicles. His passenger was in a medically induced coma for several days.
Three people in the other two cars had minor injuries, but 61 year old Karen Smith suffered a broken leg and arm requiring extensive surgery.
Hixon faces several charges including aggravated vehicular assault, assault, fleeing police, and marijuana possession.
