NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BUFFALO NY
921 AM EST MON JAN 6 2014

...BLACK ICE AND THE START OF LAKE EFFECT SNOW THIS MORNING...

RAPIDLY FALLING TEMPERATURES HAVE RESULTED IN PATCHY BLACK ICE ON UNTREATED ROADS EARLY THIS MORNING. MAIN ROADS HAVE BEEN TREATED AND SHOULD BE MAINLY ICE FREE...BUT SIDE ROADS MAY STILL HAVE SOME
ICY SPOTS. MOTORISTS SHOULD WATCH FOR SLICK SPOTS THIS MORNING.

SURFACES THAT APPEAR JUST WET MAY IN FACT BE ICY.

IN ADDITION...LAKE EFFECT SNOW IS STARTING TO DEVELOP ACROSS THE SOUTHTOWNS AND INTO PORTIONS OF WYOMING...NORTHERN CHAUTAUQUA...AND NORTHERN CATTARAUGUS COUNTIES. THE SNOW WILL BE RELATIVELY
LIGHT INITIALLY...BUT COULD PRODUCE SOME ADDITIONAL SLICK SPOTS.
