Sabres: 2014 & 2015 All American Prospects Games in Buffalo

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - The Buffalo Sabres and USA Hockey have announced the  All American ProspectS game will be held in Buffalo at First Niagara Center in 2014 and 2015.

The game features 40 of the top American born prospects who are eligible for the NHL Draft that year. The first Prospects game was played in Buffalo in 2012.

"We are honored that USA Hockey has made a 2-year commitment to us," Sabres' President Ted Black said in a Tuesday morning news conference.

Black also added that Sabres season ticket holders will be able to attend the game for free.

"This is a part of the world that has a lot of USA Hockey DNA in it," said Dave Ogrean, Executive Director of USA Hockey about Western New York.

The announcement comes not long after Buffalo was shut out of hosting the Frozen Four NCAA Hockey Championship. "We're dissapointed not to get the Frozen Four," Black said. "You lick your wounds and you move on. It's very highly competitive to get any of these events, so it's not going to deter us. On a personal side, it probably means more to get an event like this just because of the relationship we have with USA Hockey on a global scale."

Buffalo hosted first USA Hockey All-American Prospects game 2 years ago. Last year's game was held in Pittsburgh.

"We want the path to the NHL to go through Buffalo," Black said.
