Chef's Unable To Re-Open

Buffalo, NY (WBEN/release) -- Local favorite Chef's Italian Restaurant will remain closed today (Thursday 1/30), as it struggles to clean up after a water pipe burst in the building's attic.

Chef's was closed when the incident happened Sunday afternoon, and the owners praised Buffalo firefighters for their prompt response to the original alarm at the Seneca Street restaurant.

But after initially planning to stay closed Monday through Wednesday, it was determined that the clean up crews needed more time. The Billittier family now is pointing toward Friday for their re-opening.

Here is the news release:

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- As clean up continues following Sunday's unfortunate water pipe burst, Chef's Italian Restaurant owners Mary Beth and Louis J. Billittier Jr., will keep the establishment closed Thursday January 30th.

Water damage was caused when a sprinkler pipe burst in the third floor attic Sunday afternoon.

While the restaurant will be closed for lunch, dinner, and banquets - drop off catering orders will still be filled.   The take out window remains closed.

The family has crews in place working hard to properly clean up.

Mary Beth and Lou apologize for the continued inconvenience to customers, appreciate their patience, and hope to open the doors again on Friday.

Administrative staff are working during normal business hours continuing to assist customers.
