Dog Surrendered to SPCA After Drug Bust

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) The SPCA is caring for a dog surrendered after a drug bust this morning.

Buffalo Police arrested three men and a woman in connection with that raid on Waverly Street. They've been charged with drug and weapons possession as well as animal cruelty.

"We were able to obtain a signover from the alleged owner," says Gina Browning of the SPCA Serving Erie County. "She looks to be an older dog, anywhere between seven and 11 or 12. The dog has only 1 on a 1 out of 9 body score. She's extremely starved however we're not seeing severe signs of dehydration," says Browning. She says the prognosis is good, and the dog named Lady, is wagging her tail. "She is able to stand, we have her on a feeding schedule of four times a day with a special formula of food for starvation cases," adds Browning.

Browning says the dog Is very gentle and is genuinely happy to see those treating her.
