Wind Chill Advisory: Less Snow, But Cold Lingers



The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory. Until 10 am Friday morning, wind chills will dip to anywhere between -15 and - 20 degrees.    SEE THE ADVISORY BELOW

...BLOWING SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO IMPACT THE AREA THIS MORNING...

SOUTHWEST WINDS GUSTING TO 30 MPH WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE BLOWING
AND DRIFTING SNOW...ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS THIS MORNING. THIS
WILL MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT.

NARROW BANDS OF LIGHT LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL ALSO OCCUR FROM THE
BUFFALO METRO AREA NORTHWARD THIS MORNING. ALTHOUGH THE SNOWFALL
WILL BE LIGHT...THE WIND BLOWN SNOW WILL REDUCE VISIBILITY TO LESS
THAN A QUARTER MILE AT TIMES...ESPECIALLY IN AREAS OPEN TO THE
SOUTHWEST.

SNOW DRIFTING ACROSS ROADWAYS WILL PRODUCE SNOW COVERED ROADS MAKING
FOR DIFFICULT DRIVING CONDITIONS THIS MORNING.

MOTORISTS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS THIS MORNING.
SLOW DOWN AND ALLOW PLENTY OF EXTRA TIME TO REACH YOUR
DESTINATION.

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN STRONG WIND WILL COMBINE
WITH COLD TEMPERATURES TO CREATE DANGEROUSLY COLD CONDITIONS FOR
EXPOSED SKIN. THE WIND WILL MAKE IT FEEL LIKE IT IS 15 DEGREES
BELOW ZERO OR COLDER FOR A PERIOD OF SEVERAL HOURS. IF YOU WILL
BE OUTDOORS USE COMMON SENSE AND DRESS WARMLY...MAKING SURE THAT
ALL EXPOSED SKIN IS COVERED. IF POSSIBLE...AVOID PROLONGED
EXPOSURE TO THE COLD TO PREVENT FROSTBITE AND HYPOTHERMIA
