Sochi, Russia (WBEN) -- At the Winter Olympics, hockey's biggest stars are opening their hearts to some unfortunate locals.
Before the Games began, there was a push to reduce the number of stray dogs roaming around Sochi and the athletic venues. The campaign prompted a humanitarian response, and dog-lovers rushed to find homes for the homeless animals.
Tuesday afternoon, Buffalo Sabres goalie Ryan Miller tweeted that the NHLPA House has become a safe haven for a couple of the pooches: "Family hotel mascot! Couple stray dogs have been cleaned up and adopted by players."
