Powerball Jackpot Up to $400 Million

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) The Powerball Jackpot is up to $400 million. The next drawing is tomorrow night.

It's the fifth jackpot over $400 million since 2010, when New York entered the game, the biggest being $590 million last May.

"(Sales) are going quite briskly," says New York Lottery Draw Team member Yolanda Vega. "The weather affects everything, and it's slowed lottery sales, but it's picking up now. It's a sales driven game, so the bigger the sales, the larger the jackpot."

Vega says there have been some big winners who were playing for the first time. "They say, 'I was in line at the store, a big jackpot at the store,' and when the jackpot goes up, they put a dollar or two in, and suddenly, they win, it's that easy," says Vega.
