Falls Woman Charged After Grabbing an Officer's Gun
Niagara Falls, NY (WBEN) - Last night, while taking a suspect in to custody on the porch of his residence, a Niagara Falls police officer had his handgun grabbed and discharged by a woman who ran out of the house. Another woman, who was inside the house, was grazed in the thigh with the discharged round.
The commotion all started when the Niagara County Sheriffs Office and Niagara Falls police Department were conducting an investigation into the sale of narcotics in the area of 27th and Niagara Street in the City of Niagara Falls.
During the investigation, police identified a suspect wanted for felony assault. The suspect, 39 year old Jason T. Clark of Lockport, ran from police in to a house, but then complied with an officer's request for him to come out.
While taking Clark in to custody, 23 year old Brittany Blenker of Niagara Falls came out of the house and charged at detectives, grabbing one's service handgun and causing it to discharge and hit another woman who was inside.
Blenker was charged with felony assault and reckless endangerment. The victim suffered a minor injury and refused treatment. An infant inside the home was not harmed during the incident.
