Quinn Joins List of Names Vying for School Board Seat
Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - Another high profile name has announced his candidacy for the Buffalo School Board.
Businessman Larry Quinn, perhaps most well known for his role as a managing partner of the Buffalo Sabres, announced today that he will run for a seat.
"Buffalo, on the surface, is on and upswing, there's been some great announcements with IBM and others," Quinn said. "If we don't fix the public schools and give the kids who live here an opportunity to participate in that progress, what will it be worth?"
However, Quinn tells WBEN that despite what it may look like to some, his focus is only on schools.
"I have no interest in elective office, in this particular case the only way to get on the board is to do it. My sole interest is trying to fix a major structural problem in the city and make it so that children who grow up here have an opportunity, end of story. I haven't run for any other office, and I don't like the idea of doing it."
Quinn says that his belief in community schools is a major difference between him and the current establishment, but doesn't think there is one particular problem with the district.
