Buffalo Business Report - Thursday, March 13th 2014

The Albany Times Union reports that Governor Andrew Cuomo's announcement last month regarding 500 IBM jobs coming to Buffalo was part of an agreement made last September.  As part of that agreement, 31-hundred jobs were saved in the state, many at the NanoCollege in Albany.  When questioned, a Cuomo spokesman said the IBM announcement was made when the deal was final.  A copy of the agreement obtained by the Times Union shows it was signed by IBM during the last week in June, nearly eight months before the governor decided to publicize it.

The Summit Park Mall has officially changed hands.  A $4.2 million acquisition by
Toronto-based Zoral Investments Inc. has been finalized.  According to Business First, the main investor pledges to breathe new life into the property, which has been plagued by vandalism and numerous empty storefronts for years.

Manning Squires Henning of Batavia will have a busy year.  The firm has been hired to work on renovations at Ralph Wilson Stadium and on the latest expansion of Yahoo Inc.’s Lockport data center.
